Hi everyone! It’s time for another Wednesday Rules Update. This week, we’ll be covering Land Deeds.
Land Deeds were introduced to the Beyond the Ӕther system to answer two separate needs. First, the trade game had become so difficult that it was causing frustration and disengagement. Second, the system needed more impetus to provoke conflict between characters.
Land Deeds arrive in the game as a blank piece of paper declaring ownership of land in Ellsborne to the undersigned. In order for a Land Deed to be used, it must be:
Acquired by a character
Signed over to that character by the Deputy Mayor
Signed over to that character by the Mayor
Submitted to the Telegraph Office
Once it is submitted, it cannot be stolen or traded without Developments or talking to staff.
Once your character has acquired land in Ellsborne, they may undertake any of the following actions. More actions will be added to this list as they are created by the players:
Generate Resources: You can invest Developments in a piece of land to build a resource generator (printing press for Educational Materials, farm for Raw Foods, etc.). It will generate a number of resources at the start of every game which will be given to you in a separate key. The number of Developments needed to upgrade it rises with the number of resources it would generate. The exact formula to upgrade it is Cost = (New number of resources). So investing one Development will make it generate one unit, two more and it will generate two, three more and it will generate three and so on.
Other Actions: You can invest Developments in a piece of land to build something else. The effects of your construction will be determined in collaboration with staff.
Thanks everyone! See you next week!
